The pewter ornament is beautifully made by Corbin Designs. William Polk built Ashwood Hall for his son Bishop Leonidas Polk across from Saint John’s Church in Mt. Pleasant’s Hamilton Court area. Leonidas sold the home to his brother and sister n law for $35,000.00. Leonidas brother Andrew Polk died at the Battle of Atlanta; many years later while his family were in France a fire engulfed the proud majestic home. Where the Hall once stood is now a corn field.
